Coachella Prep

Guess who waited in “line” online for over an hour, having minor heart attacks, to spend $399 on a ticket, to play in a desert for three days in the burning hot sun, to see some of the greatest artists of our generation… THIS GIRL.  I legit screamed when I got a ticket.  I was so excited.  I have always wanted to go to a music festival and I feel like if I am going to spend the money and actually do this, I want to do it right.   I plan on living my best life while I am there.

So the purpose of this post is to discuss everything you must do before actually attending the music festival: where to stay, what to eat, how to stay healthy, and most importantly what to wear.

Where to STAY:  There are so many hotels around the area very close to the venue if you are going with one or two friends.  Sharing a room is not bad and you don’t have to pay for rides to the festival.  In my opinion if you are going with more than two other people it is worth it to get a house, maybe one with a pool for safe measures.  Airbnb is a great place to start but a lot of those sell out early for festival weekends so I would book that fast.  Third option is making a friend who has a house in Palm Springs and being really really really nice to this person so you will be invited to stay at their home.

What to EAT:  This will be my first festival so I have not done this before and I am just telling you what I have heard.  Supposedly the food at Coachella is unreal.  There are food vendors everywhere that range from ice cream to Asian cuisine.  I am such a foodie and I love trying all foods, but I can’t survive on buying food for four days.  I am still going to try and be semi healthy, which is why I am bringing boxes on boxes of power bars.  Specifically RX bars, the coconut chip and mint chocolate chip are my favorites.  Also, peanut butter… definitely bringing a jar of Justin’s and savoring it.

How to stay HEALTHY:  Coachella actually lands on the weekend right after the marathon.  Bless!  At this point in my life I am assuming I will be very happy to give my legs a couple days of rest.  However, four whole days of no working out is a lot for me.  The Kayla BBG guides or the Nike Training app has great 30 minute work outs to get your sweat on fast and your heart rate up.  Think about how nice it will be to do these workouts outside and then just jump in a pool real quick.  Now as I am writing this I am telling myself I am going to do these at least once or twice while I’m there, but honestly who knows.  It is hard to motivate on vacation.  I may drag one of my friends into a workout with me and we can suffer together.

What to WEAR: the second I got the confirmation email saying I got a ticket I immediately starting going through all my clothes in my head thinking about outfits.  The first thing I bought was a mini backpack.  Besides wanting one for a while, I would actually have somewhere to wear it to now.

When thinking about what to wear I also have to think about how hot it is going to be during the day.  Coming from a person who basically sweats when its cold out, I am going to have to really think about this: How to wear as little clothing as possible without looking trashy… ideas below.

These are so great and come in SO many different colors and patterns
